Marine experts are working out how to persuade Wally the Walrus to leave the Isles of Scilly after he made a nuisance of himself by boarding and damaging boats.
They are stuck for ideas as they have never had to deal with a walrus.
Wally was photographed this week capsizing an empty motor boat and he has punctured rubber dinghies with his tusks. The Arctic walrus has been on something of a tour in western Europe, attracting spectators off the coasts of Ireland, Wales and France.
A team from British Divers Marine Life Rescue travelled to Scilly yesterday after boat owners raised concerns. They have contacted American experts for advice on how to keep Wally away.
